A nursery is staffed by loving adults and teens each Sunday from 9:30am-10:30am for infants and toddlers. We have a “sign-in and sign-out” system and parents are given pagers, so that they can be alerted by our staff, if they are needed by their child at any time during the worship service.
Children’s Sunday School
Our Sunday School program meets during the worship service, from 9:30am to 10:30am, for children from preschool thru those in the 5th grade. Children begin in the sanctuary with their parents and then head down to their Sunday school class after the “children’s message.” On the first Sunday of the month, communion Sunday, children go directly to their classes and then join us in the sanctuary for communion at the close of the worship service. We are currently using a United Methodist Curriculum called “Deep Blue” which uses a variety of engaging activities to help children dive deep into God’s Word! We have wonderful, creative teachers and welcome new students on any Sunday!
We have classes for:
All of our children from Preschool-thru the 5th grade begin in the sanctuary each Sunday morning for worship at 9:30 am. Around 10 minutes into the service the children are invited to come up front to hear a children’s message that is specifically directed to them and generally follows the scripture for that day or talks about a special season of the church year. After the children’s message the Sunday teachers and children leave to go to their Sunday school classes.
Emerging Generation Fellowship Group (EG)
Our EG group is for all children in the 4th and 5th grades. This group engages in monthly fellowship and mission activities once a month on Sunday afternoons. Since many of our students in this age group attend different schools, this group allows for a time to get to know one another better outside of Sunday school. The group was named “Emerging Generation” as this group of children will soon be “emerging” into our youth program at the church! Our EG group prepares them for what’s to come!
Vacation Bible School
Every summer we have a weeklong Vacation Bible School (VBS) program which is held the last full week of July, everyday from 9 am to 12 noon. It includes different learning centers, which the children rotate through and includes music, crafts, recreation, Bible drama, science, missions and snacks. Each summer there is a different theme, which engages the children and helps them to grow in their faith. Children who are 3 ½ years of age thru those who have just completed the 5th grade are invited to attend. This program is open to children from the church and the community.
Special Children’s Events
During the year we have several events just for our children. “Trunk or Treat” is held the last Sunday of October, and involves trick or treating around the church parking lot. The first Saturday of December, we have an “Advent Workshop” which involves ushering in this holiday season thru the making of holiday crafts. We have an annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Saturday morning before Easter for children thru the 3rd grade.
Children Mission Projects
Throughout the year we try to have mission activities for our children to engage in, so as to encourage our children to give to others. These vary from year to year.
