Asbury Guild was formed in 1934 to offer support to the residents of Asbury Methodist Village. Since the Guild’s founding in 1934, it has supported many unfunded needs at AMV. For example, the Guild provided the chapel on campus. It gave $500,000 to create the Benevolent Care Endowment Fund. Other past contributions have been, the first bus of the Asbury fleet, resident laundry rooms at Wilson Health Care Center, a gift for the walking garden, silverware for dining tables, bed linens, and rocking chairs for Kindley Health Center.
The best known activities are probably the monthly birthday parties and Elves Day at Christmas. MCP members can join the Guild for a $5 membership fee at any time. There is a membership drive in February with information on the table in the narthex.
The Elves Day project collects gifts for residents of Kindley Health Center and Wilson Health Care Center. Boxes will appear in the narthex to collect small gifts (a list of appropriate items will be posted). The gifts are collected and distributed in December. Volunteers are welcome to share the fun of packing bags to be delivered before Christmas.
